Fireflies

“Fireflies” is finally finished. I intended to show the work in progress, but graphic design and teaching kept me busy enough. Hopefully I can provide some composition building steps in the future.

Starting a new project

Getting set upThis past weekend I took the big drafting table apart and stored it in the basement. I’m going to use my old custom made wood table instead. It’s extremely easy to adjust the angles and has been my favorite “easel”. Most of my art has been digital lately, but now it’s time to get paint on canvas.

The new painting will be a study for what will be a major piece. For now, I’m using a 36″x18″ pre-stretched Fredrix canvas. Saturday I took a series of photos of the trees lining the backyard. The photos were tiled together using Photoshop. The printout can be seen on the table. Now I just need the time to get started. I’ve got to revise some stationery and finish a website reformatting before getting too deeply into it.

welcome to my studio

For those of you who happen to come across this… welcome to my first blog! I plan on describing my creative processes and what’s going on with current artwork. Feel free to add comments whenever you like. I’d like this to be fun and maybe even informative. I’ll be spending some time learning how to do this better and getting photos up as often as possible.

peace,
